Dear SPOA Members,
The following is from Sandy Cross, Senior Planner of the Town of Duck:
Dear Homeowner Association Contact,
Good morning! We are getting an early jump on our notifications related to tents and beach equipment on the beach following some changes that were made to our Ordinance this winter.
Attached you will find copies of letters similar to those that you have received in the past three years that we have sent to property management companies and beach equipment vendors identifying notable regulations, and in this letter, changes compared to last year. We would ask that you pass this information on to your owners as well.

It is extremely important to note that tents may not be any larger than 12×12 and no guy lines may extend beyond the framing of the tent. See examples below of permitted vs not permitted.
Additionally, tents may not be set up within 50’ of a lifeguard stand or a community accessway. While this tent below meets the size criteria, it’s location in relation to a beach access is not permitted.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions related to the attached documents.

Beginning Monday, January 31, 2022, all residential trash will be collected on Mondays. The twice weekly Monday & Friday collection schedule begins May 1, 2022 and runs through September 30. Cans may be rolled out the night before collection and must be rolled back by midnight on the day of collection.
More information on residential curbside waste services can be found on our website. The Town will be placing new stickers with the appropriate information on your cans in the coming weeks.
The TFC recycling schedule will remain the same. First and third Mondays November 1 – April 30, and every Monday May 1 – October 31. For a refresher on what is and isn’t recyclable, check out these FAQs from TFC:
Dear Sanderling Neighbors,
Sea turtle nesting season is approaching and the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles (NEST) is looking for volunteers in our area. Volunteers not only help these endangered animals but have some fun in the process. The flyer accessible at the link below provides some information and if you have any questions, feel free to contact Tony Parisi at 805-444-4567 or parisit48@gmail.com.
Last year, we gave you a link to another flyer that provided some information that helps increase awareness of sea turtles and the simple actions that can be taken to help them. That link is also below. As a reminder, we can provide a laminated hard copy of the flyer for anyone who would like one or you can print the flyer yourself as an option. If you want a laminated one, please contact Tony.
On behalf of NEST and the sea turtles, thanks for your support.
